RIP Bozo
I mention this because one of my brothers LOVED Bozo. He had Bozo everything.
His favorite toys were a small stuffed Bozo doll with plush red, white, blue body and red pop poms for buttons, plastic hands, feet and head, and the wild fur like red hair. I can't remember if he talked or not. I think he had a puppet too.
I remember Bozo getting his face washed frequently.
Bozo was his companion and also rested on his bed pillow on some days.
He also had that teeter tottering punching bag. (My husband said he had this too.)
He could not miss a daily episode. And whenever the local Bozo appeared, we had to be there.
Bozo was at MacDonald's once and my youngest brother was selected to clown with him as he made a balloon animal. I think the only reason why he was actually selected was because he was sitting on my shoulders and he was about 4.
Some relatives of ours were on the show. One got to fight with Kooky Kangaroo and won prizes.
Gosh, my brother had to tune in every day. I remember old Dick Tracy cartoons were played as a special treat. I also remember how they had a parade and the kids came by the camera and waved? And you had to guess who was who, it was some sort of game?
Well, may he rest in peace. His idea brought great happiness to many little children who loved his franchised creation.
Those were the good old days.
Now all the clowns are anime characters with super ninja powers.
