Sleep Better: Six Ways

While waiting in an office, I read an article that gave these tips of getting a sounder night's sleep.  Sorry, I did not write down the source.

1. Keep the room comfortably cool -- no higher than 70 degrees temperature in the room.

2. In your dark room hold up a hand, if you can see it, the room is not dark enough.

3. Hide your clock. Don't check the time it will cause you to take two times longer to fall back asleep.

4. Count backwards from 100 to relax. (I have tried this and it works.)

5. Go for an evening walk for at least six blocks.  You will fall asleep 33% faster.

6. Enjoy ice cream or any other calcium rich food (a glass of milk) before retiring.

If you have to, get up for 20 minutes, read until you feel sleepy again.  Don't turn on bright lights or the TV, computer or listen to loud music.

Dr. Oz on Oprah said that drinking coffee or any caffinated drink 5-6 hours before bedtime can cause sleeplessness.
He also stated that a glass of milk can help you sleep also.

Turning the computer on if you can't sleep is not a good idea as it is like a TV and emits not only light from the monitor but other invisible electronic rays that keep your brain from shutting down. They showed some scans of people's brains those who were exposed and those who were not.

I say, a good walk and exercise per day helps tremendously.

A sounder night's sleep eh. Or just a night's sleep? ^___^ Well, if a person is not really tired or feeling stressed about something, it would be difficult to fall asleep, no matter what is done.

But...if a person is able to sleep the moment the head hits the pillow, then the tips don't really matter.

And then sometimes, there is the strange and annoying thing about being asleep but not feeling refreshed the next morning. Usually, that happens when I sleep in hotel room beds. Sure, the beds are comfy and all...but it's hard to relax and surrender to sleep in a strange room.

I also have read that doing simple stretches before bed helps you sleep also because you relax the muscles.

Well, I hope that some of the tips work for you.
Try to eliminate caffeine from your diet for a week and see if you can go to sleep faster and stay asleep.

Dr. Oz also has said that walking 500 extra steps per day can help you get to sleep and sleep 33% better than your non-sleep nights.
