Frugal or Tight?
Where is the line?
Are you a BF ("born frugal" - you are sensible) or a FC ("frugality converts" = after lossing lots of money/things)?
How about a "frugalista" or a "frugalite"?
Are you a "secret millionaire"?
Or are you just a regular old tightward like Mr. Scrooge?

I had always been frugal, but when the coin market got hot in the early 80's for the first time in my life I could spend money like it was water, because I was buying coins...if one only went up 30% in 3 months, that was a bad investment!! Made a lot of money...but forgot to declare it on income tax...I was just having fun!! They got me!! it was a bit expensive, but worth the trip!!!

As tampi mentioned, I seem to become more frugal as I age ... and resent that I didn't live that way earlier on.

Yes, it is amazing how much we can do without.
Seems like there is so much excess of stuff. I ask myself:
Can I afford it?
Do I really need that or just want that?
Can I take care of it properly?
How often will I use it?
Where will it be in another year or two?
Do I really want to spend the money on it?
Then eventually, I will clean up everything and have a yardsale.

I was raised to be uber-frugal. It's paid off. I lived off my savings for 4 years when I was sick. And I am paying off my home at the end of the month. I had a goal of doing that 10 years after buying my home. And I did it. I live below my means - but I do have expensive taste. I just am really good at finding deals. And willing to sacrifice in other areas.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
We do the same thing - live below our means, do without lots of stuff, and find inexpensive ways to survive and buy only used cars in excellent condition (pay cash, less insurance).
I enjoy finding things at yard/garage sales or the like, quality products in excellent condition for a fraction of the price.
I will get new things only if they are on sale or the mark down.
